Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! 👋❤️
I’ve decided to create this blog to share my story, raise awareness and hopefully help readers to push through the tough times life always brings…
My name is Klaudia and I’m 27 years young 😜. I’m currently in an active rehabilitation after suffering my brain injury. I’m staying positive and hoping to achieve some huge goals! I’m an only child, born in Poland. I moved to Ireland as a young teenager (13), just after completing primary school back home. My mother Sylwia (47) and my father Kris (49), are my rocks and take care of me when I go back home every weekend👨👩👧. I don’t know what I would do without them, but I’ll come back to that in my later posts…
I graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) in mid September 2015. In June the same year I started a job with Clinical Cancer Trials in Beaumont Hospital as a Trainee Clinical Data Manager (tCDM). On the 7th of October 2015, suddenly I suffered a massive brain stem stroke, which has left me completely paralysed. I had a conditiion called Locked-in syndrome (LIS), which meant I was fully aware, with my brain functioning 100%, but I wasn’t able to move a single muscle of my body. I could only voluntarily blink my eyes, which then became my only way of communicating. That day my world changed in an instant and turned upside down. I went from an active 23 year old girl full of life, with a degree and a full time job that I loved, a very bright future with many opportunities to a fully paralysed patient, lying in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on life support, fighting for life…
Through this blog I’m going to share my journey to recovery from day one onwards. I’m hoping that not only stroke survivors, but all readers find this blog interesting and helpful. I know that a lot of tears will be shed during this process but I would love this to be a very positive space, where everyone can find motivation. It doesn’t matter what tough situation you are in, I’m sure you will be able to relate to me somehow and find that strength within you to keep going! We all have our ups a downs, and you don’t necessarily have to go through what I’ve gone through to be a survivor! Remember that even if you fall multiple times always pull yourself together and stand up that extra time! Even if it means you have to do it over and over again.
I’m not a professional writer, but I promise I’ll try my best to share everything in as much detail as I can remember. You will learn, you will cry, you will smile, you will laugh but it’ll be worth it and you will be inspired! I will share some tips and advice taken from my own personal experience, not only regarding the recovery process but things I came across during my journey-and there is SO many! Meditation, shiatsu, diet & nutrition are some examples. In advance I would like to apologise for any mistakes I make writing. Please bare in mind English is not my first language, so I’m so sorry for any slip-ups🤭🤭🤭.
I’m going to put something positive after each of my posts, and even if I can make one person smile, well that’s good enough for me! 😊 Even if that person is me 🙈🙉 Just to end on that positive note, as positivity always wins…ALWAYS!
